![]() Four years ago, Harms launched his own company, Third Edge Heli. This a rare pair of the very first year Legendary Moment Bibby, the bases and edges are in good to excellent condition, top sheets have typical edge chipping. Down south, he began guiding for Valle Nevado, where he met his South America partner, Miguel Ledda. Along with Tommy Moe and Mike Overcast, Harms helped pioneer heli skiing in the Tordrillo Mountain Range and co-founded Tordrillo Mountain Lodge (where he remains a lead guide). Harms guided private clients in Alaska before joining the guide team at Chugach Powder Guides. Harms became friends with the head of the heli-ski program and began his heli-ski guide career in South America. At the age of 20, after a season of commercial fishing in Alaska, Harms headed south to Portillo, where he taught skiing, freeskied and fell in love with the Andes. ![]() There, he met the ski school director for Hotel Portillo. Harms grew up in the shadow of Mount Hood and ski raced through high school before moving to Lake Tahoe to teach skiing at Heavenly. Aside from skiing, his greatest passion is leading clients on trips of a lifetime. At 6’5” and 225 pounds, Harms is often described as a gentle giant. And being fluent in Spanish helps Southern America trips run smooth. ![]() ![]() As a fully certified PSIA ski and snowboard instructor, Harms can offer helpful tips on ski technique when skiing with clients on steep Alaska faces and around rocky features in the Andes. As a Level III avalanche forecaster, Wilderness First Responder, Harms puts his clients’ safety first. Since 1990, Harms has been guiding and teaching skiing in the the world’s great mountain ranges. Last year, he spent 220 days on snow, and a majority of those days included a helicopter. Greg Harms has been living the never-ending winter for 27 years. ![]()
